Today marks my third day in Lima. I have spent the last few days trying to orient myself to this massive jungle, get my laundry done, and get to know the Cooley’s (the missionary couple down here). Tomorrow we will pick up 4 Americans and head to Chincha and possibly Pisco to do 8 days of earthquake (terremoto) cleanup. Chincha was hit very hard. The devastation has totally demolished the city. I am anxious to work up a sweat serving the Lord. Many people forget about the devastation in the world when the next natural disaster happens. But, people are still sleeping in tents, and have no food, and all their possessions looted. Even many people in Lima have forgotten their own countrymen.

Yesterday I met Dana, an interpreter for AIM. She may join us in Chincha. I was expressing my intrest in taking spanish lessons, and she stated that she may get me into a language university for free, if I do a conversation class with Peruanos who want to learn English. Sounds like a fantastic opportunity! So be in prayer for that as well as our time in Chincha, where we will be rebuilding the church, and a pastor’s home.
